The Ubuhlebezwe Municipality is now inviting students to apply for their community bursary programme for the 2024 academic session. This bursary is meant for tertiary institution students residing within the Ubuhlebezwe Municipal area (KwaZulu-Natal), for studies within certain fields.
The Ubuhlebezwe Municipality is located within the Harry Gwala District Municipality, in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Agriculture, tourism, and business are the municipality’s major economic sectors. The municipality has a vision to provide quality services and sustainable economic growth within the available resources.

About Ubuhlebezwe Municipality Bursary
This bursary will be awarded to first-year students studying one of the following courses at a recognized university in South Africa:
- Agriculture
- Civil Engineering
- Finance Management / Accounting Studies
- Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
- Town Planning
The bursary will cover the following expenses for its recipients: Tuition fees, prescribed books, accomodation, and meals. Note that preference will be given to students pursuing studies towards Municipal Priority Skills.
Eligibility Criteria for Ubuhlebezwe Municipality Bursary
For you to be considered eligible for this bursary, you must meet up with the following criteria/requirements:
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must reside within the Ubuhlebezwe Municipal area, in KwaZulu-Natal province
- You must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification within one of the fields of study listed above
- You must be studying or accepted/ registered to study at a recognised tertiary institution (University) in South Africa
- You must be a first-year student
How to Apply for the Ubuhlebezwe Municipality Bursary
If you are ready to apply for the Ubuhlebezwe Municipality bursary, download the 2024 bursary application form and fill it completely and print it out. Alternatively, you can get the application form in person at the Municipality offices during office working hours (8AM to 4:30PM. Monday to Friday)
The Application form must be dated, and stamped by the Ward Councillor before submitting. Copies of the following documents must accompany your application:
- Certified Copy of a Valid Matric Certificate
- Classified Copy of the South African green bar-coded ID book/Smart ID Card
- Proof of Acceptance from the relevant Tertiary Institution for the current academic year
- Fee structure and Banking details of the institution
- Furnish accurate Personal Contact details
