TCTA Bursary Programme 2023/2024 – How to Apply

Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority (TCTA) is now inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2024 academic year. This bursary is targeted at first and second-year students at tertiary institutions.

About TCTA Bursary

Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority is a state-owned organization that is in charge of financing and implementing bulk raw water infrastructure projects. It is an agency of the National Department of Water and Sanitation.

TCTA is offering ten (10) bursary opportunities to academically deserving youth from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. Eligible applicants include first & second-year students who are already studying or planning to study towards their undergraduate degree at a recognised South African higher learning Institution.

Bursaries will be awarded towards the following degree qualifications:

  • BCom Economics (Financial Management/Treasury & Investment, Commercial or any related numerate Degree (2 bursaries will be given))
  • BSc or BEng in Civil/ Electrical (Controls & Instrumentation)/Mechanical/ Chemical (4 bursaries will be given)
  • BSc or BTech in Environmental Science/Environmental Management, Environmental Law (4 bursaries will be given)

Eligibility Requirements

In order to be considered eligible for the TCTA bursary, you must satisfy the following requirements:

  • You must be a South African
  • You must be younger than 35 years old
  • You musty have a Valid ID Document
  • You must be in your first or second year of study at a South African Tertiary institution
  • You must be studying one of the courses listed above
  • You must have achieved a minimum result of 60% for English, Science and Mathematics in Matric
  • You must have achieved a minimum result of 65% for all major subjects, if currently studying
  • You must be from a previously disadvantaged background
  • You must have a total household income of less than R350 000 per annum (before tax)
  • You must NOT be receiving any other bursary or sponsorship funding
  • You must be currently unemployed
  • Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
