PPS Foundation Bursary Programme 2024: How to Apply

The Professional Provident Society (PPS) Foundation will soon start accepting applications from South African students for their bursary for the 2024 academic session. The bursary programme is targeted at students working towards a qualification within the STEM and Humanities field.

The PPS Foundation was created in 2016 with the primary purpose of improving access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) fields, and to make a measurable contribution to the sustainable development of South African communities through PPS’s ethos of mutuality and shared success.

About PPS Foundation Bursary

The PPS Bursary is available for undergraduate (1st year) to honours level. The bursaries will be awarded based on two things: Financial need and Academic performance. Recipients will be funded from first year through to Honours level.

The following expenses will be covered by this bursary for its recipient:  tuition fees, text books, meals and accommodation at university residence. Reciients will also receive access to other resources, to reduce the challenges of the learning and teaching experience.

Bursary recipients are required to submit their statement of results at the end of each semester, as soon as they are received, in order to continue receiving funding. Those in the 1st year of study will be required to attend on-campus contact support sessions, facilitated by the PPS Foundation, at certain times throughout the year.

Eligiblity Requirements

For you to be considered eligible for the PPS bursary, you must meet up with the following requirements:

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must have a household income of R600 000 or less per annum
  • You must be studying or enrolled to study full time, at recognised public tertiary institution in South Africa (University or University of Technology)
  • Preference will be given to students pursuing studies towards a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) degree
  • Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged candidates and financially deserving Black candidates (African, Coloured, Indian)

Note that a proportion of the funding may be provided to Humanities students (up to a maximum of 15% of the funding available).

How to Apply for PPS Foundation Bursary

To apply for the Professional Provident Society bursary, visit ppsfoundation.xfour.co.za, read the terms and conditions, follow the prompts and complete your application. You will be required to submit copies of the following documents alongside your application:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Full academic record to date, including most recent transcripts, if currently studying (on institutions letterhead)
  • Proof of registration for the current academic year (on institutions letterhead)
  • Financial Statement from your university’s student finance department
  • Proforma invoices for prescribed books
  • Lease agreements, if living in private accommodation
  • Proof of parents or guardians household income (latest payslips if employedm, affidavit if unemployed, proof of grant or pension if applicable)

Opening and Closing Date

The PPS Bursary will close in on 15th January 2024, So make sure you apply on, or before the deadline so that your application will be considered.
