The Monocle Foundation is now inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2024 academic year. the programme is targeted at previously disadvantaged black females, for Undergraduate or Postgraduate studies in certain fields of study.

About Monocle Foundation Bursary
Founded in 2002, Monocle is an independent, management consulting firm specialising in banking and insurance. The Monocle Foundation was established in 2014, with the aim of providing tertiary funding to female students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, pursuing studies in fields of study that are relevant to Monocle.
Moncle will award these bursaries to previously disadvantaged black females, for Undergraduate or Postgraduate studies in (but not limited to):
- Accounting
- Computer Science
- Economics
- Engineering
- Finance
- Mathematics
- Medicine
The bursary will take care of expenses such as tuition fees, book and study materials allowance, laptop, accommodation and a subsistence allowance. Career counselling and a MS Office course will also be provided to the recipients.
Eligibilty Requirements
For you to be considered eligible for the Monocle bursary programme, you have to meet up with the following requirements:
- You must a South African citizen
- You must be a Female with limited to no funding
- You must be Black (African, Coloured, Indian or Asian)
- You must have completed Matric
- You must be studying towards an Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree, in one of the fields of study listed above
- You must be in your second or higher year of study
- You must be studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
How to Apply for Monocle Bursary
You can apply for this programme on the Monocle foundation website. The application process involves four processes:
- Telephonic screening with the trust administrator
- A personal meeting with the trust administrator to get to know you
- One-on-One interview with one of the trustees to better understand you
- Confirmation provided from the trustees as to whether you are successful

Closing Date
All applications must be submitted to The Monocle Foundation Trust before 10 November 2023. Any application sent in after this date will be rejected.
