Modikwa Platinum Mine Bursary South Africa 2024

Modikwa Platinum Mine is now inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2024 academic year. This bursary is targeted at current/potential South African Students Who Have Completed Grade 12 And Are Currently Studying Full-time in an accredited DHET Institution in the country.

Modikwa Platinum Mine is a mine that lies along the border between the Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces, around 15km northwest of Burgersfort. It is an underground operation extending over an area of 14,278ha. The mine is jointly owned by African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) and Anglo Platinum and it began operations in the mid-1920s. Both companies came together to award this bursary to deserving students.

About the Modikwa Platinum Mine Bursary

This bursary will be awarded to South African students pursuing a qualification in one of the following fields of study:

  • Engineering studies (Electrical, Mechanical, Mining,
  • Industrial, Chemical, Civil, Metallurgy, Rock)
  • Extraction Metallurgy
  • Mine Surveying
  • Safety Management
  • Environmental
  • Ventilation
  • Ventilation/Occupational Hygiene
  • Human Resources Management
  • Geology
  • Medicine
  • Radiography / Radiology
  • Social Sciences / Development Studies
  • Psychology
  • Social Work
  • Communication
  • Project Management
  • Information Technology
  • Finance
  • Law
  • Marketing
  • Education

The bursary will cover the following expenses for its recipients:

  • Full payment of tuition fees,
  • Payment of meals and accommodation as per the bursary agreement,
  • Payment of all study books and material
  • A laptop will be issued as per the bursary agreement.

Potential candidates for this bursary may be required to undergo a panel interview together with psychometric assessments for selection purposes. After completing their studies, recipients of this bursary have the opportunity to be part of the Modikwa Platinum Mine Graduate Programme

Eligibility Requirements

For an applicant or student to be considered eligible for the Modikwa platinum Mine Bursary, he/she has to meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a South African
  • Must be currently enrolled at a DHET-accredited Institution in South Africa
  • Must be currently studying towards a degree in one of the fields of study mentioned above
  • Must have a good academic record
  • Must do compulsory vacation work which is in line with their study discipline

Note that in making the final selection, consideration will be given to attaining the objectives of the Mining Charter and Employment Equity Act.

How to Apply for the Modikwa Platinum Mine Bursary

Interested applicants are requested to submit their CVs with certified copies of qualifications to one of the following email below:

The documents/qualifications to be submitted include:

  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified copy of matric certificate
  • Academic results
  • Proof of registration from the institution for the qualification in the relevant field of study (on the institution’s letterhead)
  • Proof of address
  • If the applicant is the child of a Modikwa employee, proof of employment letter from the parent is required

Applications will not be considered without the attachment of valid copies of the aforementioned documents. If you do not hear from the Company within 21 days after the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.

Closing Date

The closing date for all applications for the Modikwa platinum Mine Bursary is 31 January 2024. Any application sent in after this date will not be considered so make sure you apply on time.
