Knysna Municipality Bursary 2024

Knysna municipality is now inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2024 academic year. This bursary is open to all students who reside within the greater Knysna municipal area and are pursuing or plan to pursue a degree/qualification within a scarce skill sector in 2024.

Knysna Municipality is located within the southern region of the Western Cape province, between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean and it includes the areas of Brenton, Buffalo Bay, Karatara, Noetzie, Rheenendal and Sedgefield. The Knysna Municipality is one of seven municipalities within the Garden Route district. It is a Category B municipality made up of 11 wards and has a population of 70,000+ residents.

About Knysna Municipality Bursary

The bursary will cover the following expenses for its recipients: registration fees, tuition fees (partial cover), book allowance (up to a certain amount), examination fee, and accommodation (if the applicant can prove he/she needs it). These fees will be paid directly to tertiary institutions.

Recipients of this bursary will be selected by a Committee and selection is based on merit and financial need. All Bursaries that are awarded and not collected within a month will be revoked and given to another applicant, so after applying, make sure you check your email always.

Eligibility Criteria

For an applicant to be considered eligible for the Knysna Municipality bursary, he or she must be able to meet up with the following requirements:

  • Must be a South African
  • Must reside in the Knysna Municipal District
  • Must have completed matric or is in matric currently (2023)
  • Must be studying or intend on studying full-time towards a qualification within the scarce skills sector, in 2024
  • Must be studying or intend on studying at a SAQA-accredited tertiary or TVET institution in South Africa

Besides these criteria, note that preference will be given to students in financial need and those from historically disadvantaged communities in case funds become limited.

How to Apply for Knysna Municipality Bursary

If you are ready to apply for this bursary, download the Knysna Municipality application form 2024, fill it out completely, attach the required documents, and submit by post or hand delivery (NO emailed or faxed applications will be accepted). Below is a list of documents you are required to submit alongside your application form:

  1. Identity Document (ID)
  2. Final School Certificate
  3. Latest results from College, University, or other tertiary institutions
  4. Documentary evidence from all income earners in your home (see Section B)
  5. Proof of acceptance at your institution for the academic year
  6. Banking details of your institution on their bank letterhead
