Food for Mzansi Bursary 2024 – How to Apply

Food for Mzansi is now inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2024 academic year. This bursary is targeted at students studying towards an agricultural-related qualification at a higher institution.

Food for Mzansi is an initiative to introduce South Africans to the unsung heroes of the agricultural industry. This publication shares success stories and good news from the farms and agri-businesses that feed South Africa. The publication believes in the power of agriculture to promote nation-building and social cohesion by telling stories that are often overlooked by broader society.

About Food for Mzansi Bursary

Food for Mzansi in collaboration with Agri skills transfer will be awarding 20 bursaries to students for a 2-year agricultural-related course. These bursaries are worth R1.6 million and aim to help bridge the gap between education and rural development.

Agri Skills Transfer is an AgriSETA accredited training provider which will be able to provide one of the following three National Diploma study programmes for recipients of this bursary:

  • Agri Sales and Service
  • Animal Production
  • Plant Production

Any of these courses/qualifications can be completed online.

Eligibility Requirements

You must meet up with the following requirements if you want to be considered eligible for the Food for Mzansi bursary:

  • You must have completed Matric or currently be in matric
  • You must intend on studying towards a National Diploma qualification, within one of the fields of study listed above
  • You must be able to commence your studies from January 2024
  • You must have access to a device (laptop/ smartphone/ tablet) and Wi-Fi or Data for online learning purposes
  • You must be able to complete 120 credits per year
  • You must read and agree to the company’s terms and conditions

How to Apply for Food for Mzansi Bursary

Step 1: Film a short video explaining why you deserve this bursary. Begin the video by saying, “Dear Food For Mzansi”. (You can do your video in any one of South Africa’s eleven official languages).

Step 2: Publish your video to social media (either TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or others) and tag Food For Mzanzi with the hashtag #DearFoodForMzansi

Step 3: Complete the Application Form and attach your most recent Matric results and a link to your video in the specified box on the form.

Closing Date

Applications for this bursary will close on 31 January 2024 and successful candidates will be announced on Food For Mzansi, on Friday 9 February 2024. Applications submitted after this date will be rejected so make sure you apply on time. If you have any queries, contact:
