BBD Bursary and Beyond Programme 2024 – How to Apply

About BBD Bursary

Bursaries will be awarded to students who major in:

at Bachelors / Honours / Masters / Doctorate level. The BBD bursaries provide its recipients with coverage for University tuition fees, Monthly allowance, and Support and mentorship. For one week of every year, all BBD bursary recipients are required to attend an onsite workshop where they will meet other bursars and experience the BBD culture. The Vac Week workshop will include partaking in a group project where you will use the latest tech to create fun, practical solutions.

Eligibility Requirements

For an applicant to be considered eligible for the BBD bursary programme, they must meet up with the following requirements:

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be in Matric (2023) or must have completed Matric
  • You must be currently studying or preparing to study towards a degree (Bachelor’s, Honors, Masters, or Doctorate) in IT at a recognised South African University
  • You must have a minimum overall academic average of 70% If you’re currently in Matric
  • You must have a minimum overall academic average of 65% if you are currently in university
  • You must have a passion for creating and building software and ideally have some cool stuff ready to show the committee

How to Apply for BBD Bursary

If you are an IT student and you meet the requirements, visit the BBD bursary application form 2024 online, fill it out completely, attach supporting documents and submit the form. You will be required to upload copies of the following supporting documents:

  • ID Document
  • Matric latest results / Matric certificate as applicable
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Acceptance letter from a South African University on their letterhead
  • The latest academic transcripts on the institution’s letterhead
