IIE’s Varsity College has come around with its 2024 scholarship programme for undergraduate students who wish to study at the institution. The institution will award scholarships to 180 deserving students valued at R25 million, making it the biggest Scholarship Programme in South Africa.

About Varsity College Scholarship 2024
Varsity College is a brand of the Independent Institute of Education (IIE) which is the largest registered and accredited private provider of higher education in South Africa. They have six schools that provide full-time, part-time, short learning programmes, and online distance learning.
The Varsity College Scholarship 2024 consists of two categories; the Achiever Scholarship and the Excellence Scholarship. Both scholarships cover full-time undergraduate studies (3 to 4 years) at any Varsity College campus, in the following fields of study:
- Accounting
- Commerce
- Education
- Engineering
- Humanities
- Information Technology
- Law
The scholarship is valued at R35 000 and R55 000 for every recipient yearly. The scholarship will be renewed every year of study, provided that the recipient achieves a satisfactory academic result that year.
How to be Eligible
For a student to be considered eligible for either the Excellence or Achiever scholarship, he/she has to meet the minimum requirements as stated below:
Achiever Scholarship
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must have achieved one of the following:
- a minimum overall average of 60% in Grade 11 (or equivalent), if currently in Matric
- a minimum overall average of 60% in Grade 12/ Matric (or equivalent), if completed Matric
- You must have a total household income of LESS than R400 000 per year
- You must intend on studying full-time at a Varsity College campus in 2024
- You must be entering your first year of undergraduate studies
- You must meet the minimum entry criteria for your chosen undergraduate qualification
- You must have read and agreed to the Varsity College Scholarship T&C’s
Excellence Scholarship
- You must be currently in Matric OR have completed Matric (or equivalent)
- You must have achieved one of the following:
- a minimum overall average of 75% in Grade 11 (or equivalent), if currently in Matric
- a minimum overall average of 75% in Grade 12/ Matric (or equivalent), if completed Matric
- a minimum result of 80% for 4 subjects (excluding Life Orientation)
- You must intend on studying full-time at a Varsity College campus in 2024
- You must be entering your first year of undergraduate studies
- You must meet the minimum entry criteria for your chosen undergraduate qualification
- You must have read and agreed to the Varsity College Scholarship T&C’s
How to Apply for the Varsity College Scholarship
complete the following steps to successfully apply for this scholarship.
- Apply for a full-time undergraduate programme at Varsity College
- Fill in the scholarship application form for the campus you would like to study at:
- Upload copies of the following documents
- Grade 11 final results and Matric latest results (if currently in Matric)
- Matric certificate, if completed Matric
- Parents or guardians proof of household income (most recent payslip or letter from the employer stating annual income)
- Parents or guardians bank statements showing monthly income for the last 3 months (certified copy)
- Both parents or guardians tax certificates for 2022 (not required if they are not registered for tax)
- Achiever Scholarship applicants should write and submit a motivation letter not more than 600 words
If you are successfully selected for the scholarship, you will be recieve a letter on or before 3 November 2023 and you are to confirm your acceptance on or before 1 December 2023, pay the pre-admission fee, and complete the 2024 intake process.
Closing Date
Varsity College will stop accepting applications for the scholarships on 6th October 2023, so apply on time if you are really interested in bagging the scholarship.
