About Letsema Learnership

The Banking Sector Education and Training Authority (BANKSETA) is an organization that enables skills development and transformation in the broader banking & microfinance sector and supports people development.

The BANKSETA has identified the need to provide funding for post-matric learners through Letsema, a youth development intervention aimed at recruiting unemployed matriculants in order for them to further their studies and to expose them to the world of work.

This learnership Training is linked to a registered skills programme, and will run for 1 year. Registered employers will host the learner(s) and making provision for training, workplace coaching and leaner support. Once you have completed the training, you will be awarded an NQF5 in banking service advice qualification.

Eligibility Requirements

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must have achieved
    • minimum of 60% for English in Matric
    • minimum of 50% for Accounting in Matric
    • minimum of 50% for Mathematics OR 60% for Mathematical Literacy in Matric
  • You must be currently unemployed
  • You must not be above 30 years old
  • You must have a clear credit record (ITC)
  • You must have no criminal record
  • You must have a presentable image
  • You must be currently not taking part in any other learnership programmes
  • You must not be studying (or planning to study) during the course of the learnership programme
  • You must have a good command of the English language – written and verbal
  • You must be able to provide an official testimonial/ positive recommendation from a previous school/ learning institution/ religious institution
  • If you are disabled, You must provide a medical certificate stating the nature of the disability

  • South African Identity document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Official testimonial/ positive recommendation from a previous school/ learning institution/ religious institution
  • Original signed BANKSETA Letsema Learnership Agreement (pdf) – please download, complete and sign.

Closing Date

31st October, 2023

Any application submitted after this date will be rejected, so make sure you apply on time.
