Application Requirements
The requirements for applying to Free State School of Nursing depends on the course you are applying for. The following are the current requirements:
Diploma in Nursing (R171)
- Matric Certificate or equivalent thereof
- AP score 25 and above (6 Subjects and Life Orientation)
- English level 4 (50-59%) and above
- Mathematic Literacy (50-59%) and above
- Life Science (50-59%) and above
Higher Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing (R169)
- Matric Certificate or equivalent thereof
- AP score 23 and above
- English level 4
- Life Science level 4
- Mathematic Literacy level 4
- Preference will be given to candidates with Computer Literacy Grade and Physical Science
Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (R1497)
- Matric Certificate or equivalent thereof
- Diploma in Nursing (NQF level 6)
- Registered as a General Nurse at the South African Nursing Council.

- Senior or Matric Certificate June examination results or grade 11 results if currently in grade 12
- Proof of Address
- Marriage certificate (if married)
- Divorce certificate (if divorced)
- SANC certificate (if you have a nursing qualification)
- Any other qualification certificates
How to Apply to Free State School of Nursing Online
- Visit www.eservices.gov.za portal
- Create an account on the portal if you don’t already have one
- Click on the “health” tab
- Click on the “free state school of nursing” button
- Attach the required supporting documents
- Submit your application
After the closing date, the school administration will take all applications to process them to sort out candidates who meet the requirements of the courses they select in their application.
Selected applicants will enter a pre-selection assessment stage where they process all applicants who meet the admission requirements. this may include a Psychometric Test, which will measure the candidate’s mental capabilities, as well as an academic Literacy Test which will measure the candidate’s ability to read and write.
Applicants who are selected will be asked to attach a Police Clearance Certificate which confirms whether the applicant has a criminal record or not. Once cleared, applicants will receive an SMS email or SMS containing a message on the date and venue for the assessments.
